1.  Can you provide your own internal auditor training?

Yes, you can provide your own internal auditor training for auditors. The "ISO 9001:2008 Auditor Training Course and Forms" was designed specifically for this purpose.

This training course meets the requirements of Clause 6.2.1 and 6.2.2 in the ISO 9001:2008 standard. These clauses relate to competency and training requirements for personnel whose work affects product and service quality.

This course is RABQSA compliant. This course meets RABQSA Internal Auditor Training Course requirements for course objectives, course content, training methods, and student evaluation defined in RABQSA TP5.INTRNL 1 January 2005. Should a registrar auditor have questions concerning the content of this course, you may have that person contact ISO 9000 Checklist for a detailed review of course content.

2.  How long does it take to teach the Auditor Training Course?

There are 3 methods that can be used to present this training course. The Classroom Method, the FAST METHOD, and the Self-Learning Method.

The time required for the Classroom Method is typically 3 days. The number of auditors being trained and the experience of these people will affect the time required for classroom training.

Most organizations use the FAST METHOD. Trainees are given reading assignments that are followed by a 1-2 hour review session with the Trainer. This is called the Fast Method because it involves less time on the part of the trainer.

The Self-Learning Method has the trainee read the materials and this is followed by one or more review sessions with the Trainer.

Auditor training should include providing auditors with the actual experience of conducting an audit. The Trainer Manual has instructions for the Trainer on how to plan and conduct a supervised audit that provides this experience for auditors. A supervised audit counts as a completed audit on your yearly audit schedule.

4.  Can you just read the Auditor Training Course to learn how to conduct a process audit?

Yes. The materials were designed so a person can read the material to learn the ISO 9001 requirements and how to conduct process audits. One or more Review Sessions with the person who is most familiar with the organization's quality system is suggested when this method is used.

Why should there be a Review Session(s)? Trainees should have a review of how the organization meets the ISO requirements and an opportunity to ask questions about the course content.

5.  How is "The Auditor Training Course and Forms" different from other training courses?

This course provides the following items that typically are not provided by other training courses:
  • A Master Copy of the Auditor Manual that you can photocopy

  • The Audit Steps Card (a visual overview of the audit process).
This helps auditors to learn the steps of an audit.

  • A written description for each step on the Audit Steps Card

  • An ISO 9001 Checklist, audit forms, and instructions for completing forms. These are provided as a printout and as computer files that may be edited.

  • A detailed written explanation of the ISO 9001 requirements
on a PDF file.  The file may be placed on your network system.

  • A Master Copy of the written explanation of the ISO requirements
that you may photocopy for each auditor

The detailed explanation of what the requirements mean is a major feature of this training course because you cannot conduct audits if you do not know what the ISO requirements mean. No other training course provides a detailed explanation of the ISO 9001 requirements.

  • an Audit Procedure that corresponds to the auditor training course

  • Trainer instructions on how to teach the auditor training course

10.  Is the Certificate you award to the Trainer considered valuable in the marketplace? And, if yes, why?

Yes, the Trainer Certificate is a valuable credential. There is a big difference between attending a course and passing a test and actually doing what is taught in the course.

There are presently more than 950,000 organizations worldwide that are certified to the ISO 9001 standard. Someone in each of those organizations must be responsible for managing the ISO system. This is why most job descriptions for the position of Quality Manager include that the person should have experience working with the ISO 9001 Standard.

Several QA Managers informed your writer that this course and the experience of training auditors was the deciding factor when they obtained their next position.

Notice that the Trainer Certificate lists both the course content and the experience of the recipient. View the Trainer Certificate here.
